Benchmark Statement
Benchmark: IBJA indicative rate, 29 October 2026, AM session, as published in The Economic Times IBJA reference. IBJA is the India Bullion and Jewellers Association. One benchmark is used on every silver page in this build, and no source has been averaged with another.
For comparison only, the same Economic Times reference lists the IBJA silver rate for 28 October 2026 (PM session) as Rs. 1,93,442 per kilogram, a difference of Rs. 2,945 per kilogram against the 29 October AM rate. Morning and evening sessions are different publication sessions, so this is shown as a session-to-session comparison, not as a single-day price move.
Why a Shop Price Is Higher Than the Benchmark
The benchmark is the indicative metal value before shop additions. A jewellery or coin bill adds GST at 3% on the metal value, plus making charges, wastage and any dealer premium set by the seller. Those charges vary by seller and item, so they are explained here and never blended into the benchmark figure.
Example, using only the benchmark and the GST rate: 10 grams of 999 silver at the benchmark is Rs. 1,904.97 of metal value, and 3% GST on that metal value is Rs. 57.15, giving Rs. 1,962.12 before any making charge or premium. Any premium or making charge a seller adds comes on top of Rs. 1,962.12 and is not stated here, because no single seller premium was verified.
How Often Silver Rates Change
IBJA publishes indicative rates in morning (AM) and evening (PM) sessions, and rates move with the bullion market during the day. This page is dated to one session, the 29 October 2026 AM rate, so that every figure on it can be traced to the same publication.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the silver rate today in India?
As of 29 October 2026, the silver rate in India is Rs. 1,90,497 per kilogram for 999 fine silver, on the IBJA indicative AM rate. That is Rs. 190.497 per gram, Rs. 1,904.97 per 10 grams and Rs. 19,049.70 per 100 grams.
What benchmark is used on this page?
Benchmark: IBJA indicative rate, 29 October 2026, AM session, as published in The Economic Times IBJA reference. IBJA is the India Bullion and Jewellers Association. This is a national indicative benchmark, not a shop price and not an average of sources.
Why does a jeweller or shop quote a higher price than Rs. 190.497 per gram?
A shop bill adds charges on top of the benchmark metal value. GST at 3% applies on the metal value, and making charges, wastage and any dealer premium are charged separately by the seller. Those additions explain the difference; they are not folded into the benchmark rate on this page.
Does the silver rate differ by city?
The IBJA benchmark used here is a single national indicative rate, and IBJA does not publish separate city silver figures in this reference. Shop prices do vary by city and seller because of local dealer spreads, transport and handling, and different making charges. No city silver page is published from this benchmark, because inventing city figures would break the single-benchmark rule.
Is this page investment advice?
No. This page reports a dated benchmark rate for information only. This is not investment advice, and it makes no prediction about future silver prices.
Method and Correction Note
