About This Rate

This page reports the Mumbai rate published by Mahanagar Gas, the city-gas distributor for Mumbai.
How Often CNG Prices Change
CNG prices do not follow the daily 6 AM revision cycle used for petrol and diesel. A city-gas distributor revises its CNG rate when it issues a new revision, and the gap between revisions can be weeks or months. That is why this page is dated to a specific revision: the date tells the reader exactly which revision the price belongs to.
When MGL publishes a newer revision, this page is updated to the new price and the new effective date. Until then, the rate above stands as the latest verified revision.
CNG as a Vehicle Fuel
CNG, compressed natural gas, is natural gas compressed for use as a vehicle fuel. It is sold by weight, in kilograms, which is why CNG prices are quoted per kg rather than per litre like petrol and diesel. Vehicles that run on CNG are either factory-fitted CNG models or petrol vehicles converted with an approved CNG kit. This page reports the fuel price only; it does not recommend any vehicle or conversion.

The CNG price in Mumbai was last revised with effect from 1 October 2026, according to MGL. This page is dated to that revision, so the rate and its date always travel together.
Why is CNG priced differently in different cities?
CNG prices differ by city because each city has its own distributor, its own supply and pipeline costs, and its own state and local taxes. Two cities therefore never share a single CNG rate, and a rate from one city must never be copied onto another city’s page.
Where can I check the latest CNG price for Mumbai?
On the distributor’s own rates page: MGL, CNG rate card. If that page shows a newer revision than this page, the distributor’s page is the newer figure, and this page is updated to match it.
