The Samsung Wave 3 (S8600) is the official successor of the Samsung Wave II. It is just 9.9 millimeters thin device runs on the new bada 2.0 operating system, which includes direct and WiFi (optional) NFC support. The Samsung Wave 3 has a sleek aluminum design and a bright 4-inch superAMOLED touchscreen. The 1.4 GHz processor with the TouchWiz interface (with the Social Music Hub and Hub) provides fast multitasking. For connectivity, in addition to WiFi, it has 3G/HSDPA, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, push email and a 3.5 mm port to connect any standard headset. Bada apps can be found in Samsung’s App Store. At the back of the Samsung Wave 3, there is a 5-megapixel camera (with autofocus and LED flash), with which you can take 720p HD quality videos. At the front, there is a VGA webcam to join video chat. Navigation is possible by a GPS; there is a built-in digital compass and Google Maps. The Wave 3 has 3GB of memory, expandable through microSD. Finally, the device is equipped with FM radio and Samsung Chaton messenger application. Simultaneously with the Wave 3 the M Wave and Wave Y announced.

The Samsung Wave 3 supports GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz networks. The Wave 3 can access fast mobile internet with the HSDPA and UMTS support. The Samsung Wave 3 can send and receive text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages. Thanks to the support of email, you can simply read your own emails. Vibrating alert and polyphonic or MP3 ringtones are of course standard equipment. The Samsung Wave 3 is a bada-smartphone weighing 122 grams. The dimensions of smartphone are 12.60 x 6.40 x 1.00 inches. Speaking time (under ideal conditions) is 510 minutes. The standby time is 480 hours under these conditions. The Samsung Wave 3 is only available in black.

The Samsung Wave 3 can play both audio (MP3, AAC, AAC, eAAC +, WMA, AMR and MID / WAV) and video (MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and DivX) files. The Samsung Wave 3 has a built-in camera with 5.0 megapixel resolution; you can also record videos. The Samsung Wave 3 has 3 GB of internal memory (Flash). In total there is 1 slot for MicroSD external memory. You can transfer data using USB 2.0 transfer to and from your PC. The Wave 3 also has Bluetooth (for wireless communication with other Bluetooth devices such as headsets) and WiFi (for wireless communication with home or small office network).

The Samsung Wave 3 is equipped with a Super AMOLED color (16,777,216 colors). Super AMOLED AMOLED builds on and creates a very bright display with low power consumption. Major advantage over conventional AMOLED display is the visibility of the screen in the Sun. This screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The Samsung Wave 3 runs on bada. Bada is the mobile open source system from Samsung. It is based on Linux. Bada applications can be downloaded from the Samsung Apps Store.
