A smartphone is a mobile phone that has enhanced computer capabilities. A smartphone can also be seen as a handheld computer or PDA that is also a phone.
Features
Many mobile phones offer the ability to address and agree to save, mobile internet ( e-mail and send and receive Internet browsing), listen to music and watch videos, but a smartphone is often something more. They can, for example: a built-in GPS receiver have the ability to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes, and / or the ability to connect to corporate networks.
Smartphones work with different operating systems. The most common are Google Android, BlackBerry OS and iOS (iPhone operating system). In addition, various smartphones equipped with Microsoft Windows Mobile (5.6 and Windows Phone 7), Symbian , Nokia Series 60 (Symbian based) and PalmOS . The Apple iPhone, since late 2007 on the European market , equipped with a modified version of Apple’s own operating system ( Mac OS X ), was the first smartphone in its present form on the market. Disadvantages of smartphones
Due to high demands on function, there is a constant risk from lack of programming background (software) and physical design (Hardware). Examples:
- Windows Mobile, where it is apparent demand for customization, suffers from instability programs. These problems no longer concern IOS platforms, Symbian and Android
- Battery life is still improving, but the device in this respect is still below normal phones.
- Dimensions, size is often a compromise between what can be produced and what can be used. This gives rise to several models, where the smallest size, although limited, for example, the phone does not allow to write comfortably with QWERTY keyboard.
- Price alone devices and additional programs. The low use of smart phones with any technology, any new procedure increases the price. The price often increases the cost of expensive operating system (for example, paid Windows Mobile ), it can be improved by using systems available to producers for free (Android)
