Samsung unveils a GamePad for Android Smartphones
Samsung introduces Smartphone GamePad, a controller for Android Smartphones from 4 to 6.3 inches.
In response to the rapid expansion of the market for gaming on mobile devices, Samsung introduces a GamePad for smartphones with Android operating system, designed to provide customers with a convenient and fun way to enjoy a better experience with mobile games.
The Samsung GamePad has a steel and plastic body, features a directional pad, dual analog sticks, four face buttons and two triggers. The arrangement of controls appears similar to that which characterizes the PlayStation controller, the system is smaller than the DualShock PS3 but has the same weight (195 grams), and has been designed to fit perfectly with a smartphone which has a screen 4 by to 6.3 inches. It works with any device based on Android 4.1 or higher and supports Bluetooth connectivity, 3.0 or 4.0, but has been optimized to work best on smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note.
The product is equipped with a rechargeable battery with 160mA and is compatible with the Google PLAY. It is already available in some European markets only in black color. There is still no information on the price.
At the same time, Samsung has introduced the Samsung Mobile Console companion app, specially designed for a better experience with the GamePad. It is already available for download and allows users to view games that support the controller. Currently 35 titles are available, including Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Asphalt 8: Airborne, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, Virtua Tennis Challenge and Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame. Samsung promises “many more games coming soon” in the course of next year.
