For a long time, Gmail allows users to send attachments up only 25 MB but this changed with the launch of the Google Drive service. Gmail users can now send large files with the help of Google Drive. And the best part is that you can send files up to 10 GB for free. Another interesting thing is that it is not necessary to open the client Google Drive or visit the official website for sending files.
Google now offers the option to quickly upload files from your computer to the drive and then insert files from the disk into an email without leaving Gmail.
Follow the instructions below to send large files through Gmail with the help of Google Drive.
Note: It is assumed that you have changed to the new Editor.
Step 1: Login to your Gmail account and click on the button COMPOSE (WRITE) located in the upper left corner to open the “New Message”.
Step 2: Enter the email address you want to send the file, enter a subject for the email and then move the mouse cursor on the plus (+) button at the bottom of the box to see Google Drive icon. Click the icon to see a new page called “Insert files with Google Drive” where you can add files from your computer.
Step 3: Click the blue button “Select files from your computer” to navigate to the location of large file you want to send, select the file and click the “Open” button. To insert multiple files, you must click on the “Add more files” button in the lower right corner. Finally, click the blue button “Upload” to upload the file to your Google Drive.
Please note that depending on your Internet connection and the file size, it may take minutes or hours to finish loading the file to Google Drive.
Step 4: Once the upload is done, you will see the file name with a link at the bottom of your email. Finally, you can click on the “Send” button to send the email.
