At the Mobile World Congress in February, the LG Optimus G Pro revealed with 1080p display and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-soc, however, benchmark of a unknown device code-named LG D801 appeared in late March. The most striking aspect of this product is that the smartphone has access to the superfast Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor with Adreno 330 GPU.

Since then it has remained remarkably quiet, but the probability that it is a prototype that will never find its way to the consumer seems to be small, because the LG website has already a UAProf online that the leaked benchmark seems to be confirmed. The profile shows at least that the LG D801 is equipped with a 1920 x 1080 pixel screen without softkeys. There is also support for LTE, HSUPA, HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS. From the previously published benchmark revealed that the LG D801 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.

It therefore appears that this LG smartphone is the successor to the Optimus S and Optimus G Pro. Reportedly, the Optimus G Pro 2 to be announced in the current quarter. Furthermore, it seems likely that the model number for the European market is different, given the different references to the American branch of T-Mobile.

The LG D800 and LG D801 appear to be identical to each other, because the profile of both does not differ. It is striking, therefore, to see that the LG D800 is already approved for Bluetooth 4.0 by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. It is a good indication that a launch of this new high-end Android device is not far.
