How to Open Command Prompt in Windows 8

Many people use the command prompt to implement various programs, change Windows settings to enable or disable various features of Windows 8.

For some actions to execute certain commands in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 versions you need to run the Command Prompt (CMD) with administrator rights.

How to Open Command Prompt in Windows 8

Method 1:

Method 2:

If you prefer to open the Admin Command Prompt from the desktop follow this procedure:

First right click on the empty space of Taskbar> click Properties to open Taskbar and Navigation Properties. Go to the Navigation tab and check mark the option “Replace with Windows PowerShell Command Prompt” in the menu, when you right-click the upper-left corner of press Windows key + X to replace the Windows PowerShell option in the Power User Menu with Command Prompt.

Now just right click on the Start button, click Command Prompt (admin) and click on the Yes button when it appears UAC prompt to run Command Prompt as administrator.

Method 3:

With this method you can open Command Prompt as administrator from Start Screen.

In Start Screen, type Command Prompt. Right click on Command Prompt entry and then click on the Run as administrator to open Elevated Command Prompt.

Method 4:

If the above methods do not work on your PC for some reason, you can use the following method:

Open the drive where Windows 8.1 is installed, for example, C drive. Then navigate to the Windows folder and open the System folder 32. Now find the file named CMD, click on it and finally, click Run as administrator option.

Finally, click the Yes button to see UAC prompt to open Command Prompt as administrator.

With these methods above you can open Command Prompt in Windows 8.
