In mid-December the company Toshiba plans to launch a new 32-inch LCD TV Regza 32BE3, equipped with so-called Eco Chip. A special chip is connected to a capacitor with high capacity. Eko chip is powered by electricity stored in the capacitor, whereby power from the mains off with a relay when switching to standby. The actual relay and the necessary elements for receiving a signal from the remote control is also supplied with energy from the capacitor. As a result, electricity consumption of the TV in standby mode, while retaining control possible by remote control and the delayed start of the timer to record television programs is zero. Moreover, Regza 32BE3 are two energy mode programmed to reduce the backlight brightness with respectively 50 and 75 percent. This function is activated by pressing a special button on the remote control. According to the manufacturer, the total average power consumption of the TV for one year is 45 kWh, which is about 27% less consumption than the previous model, the Japanese company – Toshiba Regza 32BE3 .
