Download iTunes for Windows 7, Vista & XP : iTunes is a software for reading and managing digital media library freely distributed by Apple . It is officially available on Mac OS X, Windows, and can run on GNU Linux by emulation.
The first version of iTunes was released in 2001 and operated on the basis of SoundJam MP software, which Apple had then bought the rights to the company Casady & Greene, missing since.
iTunes was part of the suite of Apple iLife until ’06version. It has been integrated with Mac OS X or downloaded from the website of Apple. iTunes software requires QuickTime to operate, it is also installed with iTunes, uninstalling QuickTime causes an inability to launch iTunes.
The iTunes Store (formerly iTunes Music Store or iTMS) is the online music store of Apple, available from iTunes, which provides music, TV shows, movies, video clips, audio books, podcasts, short films Pixar, games and applications for iPhone, iPod and iPad.
iTunes manages the transfer of music, photos and videos on various multimedia devices from Apple: iPod , iPhone , iPad and Apple TV . It is also a streaming software, which lets you listen to radio stations worldwide streamed over the Internet. It integrates the digital hub strategy defined by Steve Jobs. According to a study from Nielsen from 2007, occupies iTunes as streaming software, 3rd place in the market with over 27 million users, behind the Windows Media Player and RealPlayer.

Supported Formats
iTunes can read, write and convert audio formats: the MP3 , the MPEG-4 Audio ( AAC ), the AIFF , WAV and Apple Lossless as well as WMA (Windows version only).
iTunes supports the following video formats: MPEG4 , H.264 .
These formats are those supported by Quicktime base, which manages the output of iTunes. Many codecs for QuickTime are available for iTunes to play other formats (eg OGG for audio or DivX / XviD for video).
Apple still does not seem interested in native support open formats. Files ogg vorbis can be opened in QuickTime after installing a plug-in. This will allow iTunes to play a file ogg vorbis but not its metadata. Only Apple could provide a solution to this problem. Similarly the FLAC is not supported by iTunes, despite the outstretched hand of the project members FLAC, offering to help with the development.
Although a comprehensive consumer software, iTunes does not offer all the features that may be of interest to advanced users, in particular with regard to functionality rip or advanced transcoding, due to the possibility of non- use in iTunes encoder of choice ( Lame for mp3 , for example).
Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, there is only one way to get a read bit-perfect: this is to use an Airport Express Apple Airplay for which the driver overrides the Windows software layer, and QuickTime driver outputs sound Itunes. This problem exists because it is impossible to install Kernel drivers, ASIO or WASAPI in iTunes and QuickTime. On Windows, it is impossible to add Quicktime plugins that manages the sound output from Itunes.
