Counter-Strike is first-person shooter game which is played with the keyboard and the mouse. The keyboard is used for most actions – movements (forward, backward, turn left, turn the right, jump, duck), the management of equipment (change weapons, shoot, reload, turn the flashlight) and communication (written or oral). The mouse serves to direct the player’s view of the weapon and using a scope that is stationary in the center of the screen is also used to shoot the enemy with a single left click. The player can also activate secondary weapon with the right button of mouse and zoom for the sniper rifle, the silencer for the rifle Maverick M4A1 gun and USP or to deliver a further blow with the knife. Most mice are also equipped with a wheel in the middle of it that is to turn the gun by turning the wheel; of course you can make any changes to controls like every player.
The interface consists of different elements that are distributed on the periphery of the screen. At the top left is the radar that shows the map view as well as team players. In Counter-Strike: Source, it also shows the position of opponents who are in the field of view of team members as well as the position of the pump. Furthermore in the upper right is a flashlight that illuminates the way when activated. At the bottom of the screen the player can see his life, his armor, the rest of their ammunition, money and a clock showing the time remaining before the end of the round.
Other items appear only when the player presses a button, as the menu to change weapons, a menu to select weapons and equipment (which can be disabled) are highlighted in the top of the screen and displays different parts of their arsenal and can change each other visually. The weapons are changed one after another through the wheel mouse in the following order: primary weapon, secondary weapon, knife, grenades and bombs. When the player presses the button on purchases (B by default) in the starting area in the first seconds of the round, the menu opens and shows all the weapons and pieces of equipment with prices and details allowing the Players buy what they need. The Output window (tab) displays all the players, friends and enemies, the classification based on the number of frags and deaths as well as the ping of the players. There are many other menus that let you change the equipment, appearance, etc..
