Android is extensive open source platform, which was created especially for mobile devices (Smartphones, PDA, Navigation, Tablets). It incorporates operating system (based on Linux kernel), middleware, user interface and applications. It develops a consortium Open Handset Alliance whose objective is progressive development of mobile technologies that will significantly lower the cost of development and distribution, while consumers benefit from innovative user-friendly environment. In developing the system, it was taken into account the constraints which traditional mobile devices had such as battery drain, Lower performance and less available memory. Simultaneously, Android core was designed to run on any hardware. The system can be used regardless of Chipset, Size or the Screen resolution.

Google Android

Android platform itself gives only available with the operating system user interface for end users, but also a complete operating system deployment solution (specification Driver etc.) for mobile operators and equipment manufacturers and also for application developers provides effective tools for their development – Software Development Kit.

Available via an Apache License Version 2 operating system includes all the utilities needed by a manufacturer or an operator to implement on a cell phone.

Android operating system was designed to best integrate existing applications like Google Mail Service Gmail, The mapping, Google Maps, Or Google Calendar, Google Talk, YouTube. Particular emphasis is placed on geolocation with Google Latitude and the weather corresponding to the nearest city available on the main menu.
